Staying present in the moment one of the biggest challenges in our 24/7-constantly connected world.
At any given moment, we are barraged with irrelevant updates, musings, and other distractions which hold no real bearing over our lives.

Yet, we cannot seem to jump off the carousel of constant distractions. We are terrified to fall behind in the cycle of technology distractions.

What if we miss an oh-so-important twitter update from the reality television star of the moment?

In order to stay in the present moment, we have to take a step back and focus on what really matters to us in our lives.

Exercise #1:
  • Turn off all of your devices for 3 hours. Spend the quiet time reading a book, doing a crossword puzzle, drawing, writing, cooking, and/or cleaning.
  • After the 3 hours are up, spend 30 minutes writing about the experience. How did being deviceless for 3 hours make you feel? Did you sail through without longing to check or post updates? Was it a struggle to be off the technological grid?
  • Would you be willing to go deviceless at least once a week?
Song of the Day:  "Overture of The Magic Flute" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Meditation: By staying present in the moment, I am building a practice of patience and gratitude. I will carve out time to go deviceless at least once a week.

Bougie Girl Univeristy:Building A Room On A Budget-Paint Is My New BFF

Before After Over the years, I have had a love-hate relationship with paint. In my prior experiences, painting projects never quite turned out right. Either I slathered too much paint on an object or not enough. As my income increased, so did my tendency to avoid DIY painting projects of any kind. My living room decor is comprised of red, black, and white. However, my TV stand/entertainment center did not coordinate with my living at all. I contemplated replacing it with a black one. But, the comparable ones were a couple hundred dollars. I ruled out searching Craigslist and other secondhand resources due to lack of time.  As time wore on, it became clearer to me that my best option in this scenario was to paint this piece of furniture black. Luckily, I have a fenced in backyard and a seemingly never-ending roll of plastic sheeting which has acted as a barrier between my project and the patio. Here is my list of  suggestions for spray painting furniture: 1. Study
